Romeria in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a country full of cultural expressions, althought they are not as colorful as other countries in CentralAmerica. one of the most beautiful traditions in the country is the Romeria, which takes place every Agoust 2 of every year. It is estimated that at least 2.000.000 of ticos move from everywhere in the country by walking to visit the Basilica de la Virgen de Los Angeles. Some of them walk from very far in the country to pay a promess or ask for something to the Virgen de Los Angeles, also called La Negrita. The Basilica is located in cartago city (Cartago province) and it is $24 kilometers from San Jose.

It is a event full of faith and cultural meaning that has been done from the begining of Costa Rica as a country. If you are in Costa Rica during those days you may consider accopany us to say thank you to our Negrita.

During that procession you will see all kinds of people, from the richest man to the poorest, and sometimes you will get to see pure expressions of what a Tico is on the countryside.
